Numbers have been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. From studying Accounting at A Level, through to a degree in Accounting and Finance at university, I knew early on that this was the path for me. But I didn’t want to just understand numbers in theory — I wanted to understand them in the real world. That’s why I spent a year on placement with the NHS, gaining experience in public sector accounts alongside private — a grounding that gave me a much broader perspective on how finances work across very different organisations.
But just as important as the numbers has always been the people. Growing up, my parents instilled in me a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to help others. Those values have never left me. So when I kept hearing the same thing from small business owners — frustration with bookkeepers who were hard to reach, hard to understand, or simply not doing enough — I knew there was a better way. Mason & Mason was born from that frustration. Not mine, but theirs.
I started this business because I wanted to help more people feel in control of their finances. Not just to keep the books tidy, but to give sole traders and small business owners the clarity and confidence to make better decisions.
